5 year old DC coming to the end of their first year in school and still has mornings where they cry about going in. Mostly Monday mornings when i (mum) do drop off.
I can’t make any sense of it, they are confident, sociable and happy, albeit very sensitive. Have a group of close friends who they are playing with right until the bell goes, friends run off to the line dc runs over to me and says they don’t want to go and starts crying. Teacher has to take their hand and lead them in. I’ve spoken to the teacher about it and I’m reassured they stop crying as soon as they are in the class.
I am not aware of any other issues so I just can’t make any sense of it, and I’m not sure how to help?
We had some issues with other children being unkind earlier in the school year which I think was the root cause of being upset going in, however the issues are all resolved. I’ve tried to ask dc why they are upset but they said they just don’t want to go. Teacher tells me in class they have a lovely attitude to learning and are very engaged so it just does fit! Any suggestions? Tips?
