Hi there, I would really appreciate any advice on this...our DS is 20mths old and although he has never slept through the night (we have to drop him in a bottle at midnight and again at around 4am) he always went down easy. Up until a week and a half ago, every night at 7pm we told him he was going to bed, gave him a bottle, kissed him goodnight, put him in his cot, left the room- and that was it! We have always been disappointed that we never managed to train him to sleep through the night without feeds...he is our only child and I assumed, because he is an easy baby is every other aspect that he would just grow out of the night feeds, the only consolation was how easy he was to go down and that he slept until 7am every morning.
Suddenly a week and a half ago he freaked out when we put him in his cot at 7pm and got hysterical when he was left alone in the room, this coincided with him waking up for the day at 5 or 5.30! He also gets hysterical in the middle of the night as well and won't settle until one of us gets into the single bed that's in his room beside his cot.
Has anyone experienced this? Is it separation anxiety and what do we do?! It's now taking about an hour to an hour and a half to settle him at night, we're up throughout the night and awake from 5....needless to say we are absolutely knackered and life is becoming really hard. I would really appreciate any advice from anyone out there who has been through this. Thanks in advance x
