Nearly 4 year old, can't write name, just scribbles!

Same for drawing he doesn't draw anything recognisable just mad scribbles. Doesn't colour inside the lines. Can't (or won't) try and write letters or numbers. Can't write his name.

He's very bright in lots of ways but doesn't seem interested or like he's progressing here. Is this normal? How else can I encourage it?

Have they had an eyesight test @caggie3? I think that would be the first thing to try and eliminate Wink

His eye sight seems fine, he can identify letters and numbers written down and points at pictures and words in books and asks what they are. But perhaps I'll book one just in case!

We had very similar with our DS and the first thing Reception asked was for him to have an eye test, so I think you're wise to sort that one now.

I wouldn't worry too much though. My DS couldn't have been less interested until he started school and then the peer pressure got to him!

He's starting Uni later in the year so it doesn't appear to have a lasting effect Wink
