doea anyone else have a 7 month that doesnt sleep through

am only one in whole of midlands it seems whose baby STILL doesnt sleep through

yest really really lost my rag after he woke up three times

usually wakes up at 4 but yest i had enough

what am i doing wrong???

had enough of everyone telling me their perfect dream baby sleeps through

always has a full bottle when wakes up so believe it is true hunger and dont see how water would stop this

DS3 wasn't sleeping through at 7 months.

I have a 10 month old that dosen't!Dosen't always want milk..though does sometims.Has slept through on occasion.But wakes between 3 and 4.Dosen't seem to matter wahat time he goes to bed.It's knackering isn't it?
I thought it might be teething?
Hopefully someone will come along with some helpful advice.Just wanted to tell you tha you are not alone!

hi bumbly, my DD is just 8 months, but has been doing the same thing as your DS for the past 8 weeks.

After reaching breaking point, i got in a night nanny. She suggested a few changes and last night she only woke once and didnt demand a feed.

I was told to make the room darker (i had quite a bright night light) and to get a humidifier. She felt the room was too "dry" so she woke up demanding a feed, when in reality she just had a dry throat. She gave her a drink of water when she woke up screaming at 3am, didnt pick her up, and left the room witout interacting with her.

DD settled herself after bellowing for 10 mins and slept through til 7am when she would normally be awake again at 5am looking to start her day.

We are also strict with her day time naps - she normally has 30mins in the morning around 9.30am. Has a 2 hour sleep from 1 - 3 in her cot, and then may have a 30 min nap at 4.30pm.

I am VERY lucky in the fact that i didnt have to listen to her screaming as the night nanny dealt with her. Is there anyway your mother or a good friend could come in for a couple of nights and help with your DS?

my dsd didnt sleep through for a long time but i did find dream feeding him at about 12 and changing his nappy seemed to make him go through rest of night

and also before bed feeding baby rice then in bed feeding milk

does he have a dummy at all? i gave my ds dummy in the end as soon as he was sucking he was back off again

water does fill them up i fed water through out night after 12 oclock feed if he woke

its more breaking the habit of waking for feeds once they get used to not having the milk they will stop waking for it but its hard getting to that point

try not to stress out i know its hard but his still a baby my ds only just starting to go through night 2.7 lol

dont worry he did go through before we moved then over a year in new place never slept through

just try feeding rice putting to bed bit later with full bottle of milk and do a dream feed when you go to bed or wake then your in control and he'll feel settled and maybe use dummy in between

Sorry forgot to add, she also recommended carbs for supper, so pasta or a baked potato. I gave DD pasta last night, and she slept through from 7pm to 3am - which is the longest dtretch she has slept. Previously i had just been giving her a veg and chicken, which i guess wasnt filling her up!

I am not quite sure how people cope with being woken up 3 or 4 times a night for years!!

Bumbly, head to the sleep topics you'll find it's not unusual at all. My DD had her first 'sleep through' at 13 months but she still regularly wakes at 17 months. Developmental advances ie sitting up, walking and illness and teething all disrupt her sleep. I know it might feel like you're the only one but I think people are quite liberal with the truth generally.

well everyone i met through baby clubs etc has

sleeping babies

standing/crawling babies at 6 months

mine does nothing of the sort and acxtually

cries whenevrer meets other babies

i think clubs make my worries worse as they exacerbate them!

Honestly it's really not that uncommon and in my experience some people stretch the truth a bit about how much and how often their lo's sleep.

FWIW my DD has slept a whole lot better since learning to walk but she's still not perfect by any means. IMO some people are lucky and have 'sleepers' others aren't and have non sleepers. I tried all sorts of 'techniques' to get my DD to sleep but age has been the only thing that has consistently brought results.

PS She was always behind her peers with rolling, sitting, walking etc and didn't crawl until she'd learned to walk. However she is much more advanced with speech but even if she wasn't, they all get there eventually.

My ds didn't sleep through until 7.5 months - he wasn't even fed after 6 months but used to wake about 5am every morning, and then I would resettle and he'd go off again for a bit til 7am. I still dream feed now (he is 13mo) as he has 6 oz pre-bed at 7pm and 5-6 oz at 10.30pm. He clearly seems to need it, and give a really good dinner too. He has always had a dummy.
BTW he slept beautifully 7-7 from 7.5 months to 1 yr and now is all erratic again, depending on daytime naps etc. Often wakes 6am, sometimes earlier (aaaagh!!) and seems this is quite common at that age. My friends' babies all slept much better than him, but he made up for it by being better in other ways!!!!
