Can weaning cause reflux?

Recently we have started weaning our 6 month old DS. We started purées from 5.5 months and he absolutely loved them and everything was going quite well.

We would give him a little late morning and then a little more of the same purée mid afternoon along with his usual bottle feeds. Mainly fruit purées and also sweet potato.

However, as the weeks went on we noticed he started vomiting more and more and just seemed not himself. The last few nights it's been much harder settling him and as soon as we would put him down for the night he would start screaming in hysterics as if he was in pain. First thought was teething because of his age then maybe thought it was something to do with the heat but taking off layers/calpol and teething gel did next to nothing. He would settle being held upright then the second he felt he was lying flat he would kick off again and we were back to the start.

Does this sound like it could be reflux? I've spoken to family and they are just putting it down to the weather but I really don't know so now I'm second guessing myself! We had just had him sleeping through the night as well and now it's back to chaos 😂

Any advice would be amazing!

It could just be coincidence and he's got a big but that's an awful lot of fruit. Is there a reason that you're not giving him other foods?
