Recently my daughter's chewing habit has got a lot worse and today she's bit her 7 month old sister twice.
She chews her hair, clothes, at swimming she bites her arm bands and floats. She chews through straws. She bites erasers off the ends of pencils and when colouring will always have the pens in her mouth.
This morning we were just chatting together and the next thing I know her baby sister screamed and she told me she accidentally bit her finger. I explained it was unacceptable and she had no tablet time as a consequence.
Tonight we finished a story and she leaned forward and her sister screamed. She said in shock I've bit her again! She bit her leg 😢 it is like she doesn't realise she is doing it!
Do I call the health visitor? The dentist? She has said her teeth are hurting and she's over due since they cancelled her last app.

I'm no expert I'm afraid but in case it helps my 4 year chews a lot and is being assessed for autism. One thing we did is got him to a dentist to rule out there being anything physically wrong and then bought him those silicone chew necklace things off Amazon (we got 5 pack that look like lego bricks) which he chews when he needs. From him it's a sensory need.

Thanks dentist booked in tomorrow to rule that out. She doesn't tick many boxes for autism other than the chewing and I suppose she is a fidget and doesn't have great balance/dislikes uneven surfaces.
