My baby doesn't babble yet. She is very quiet baby. She can roll but seems not interested doing it. She is not crawling yet either. She can sit unassisted though when put in sitting position and can stand with support but not pulling herself to stand. Not waving or clapping yet. I have a friend who is the same her age and can do all these my baby are not doing. I know babies develop in their own pace but I just can't help not to compare. My baby is very social though and have a very good eye contact. She mostly respond to her name too. I dont know but not babbling, not crawling and not pulling herself to stand yet worries me a lot as these may be early traits/signs that leads to ASD. I pray everyday that its just me being paranoid and that my baby is well.

I don't think that crawling is a milestone for 8 months @elskio26 but trying to get into the crawling position is.

The lack of babbling might mime that they need a hearing test though. Have a look at this progress checker. It will tell you if there are any concerns and they have a very useful SLT Helpline.

If you are concerned at all though, please ring your HV and say that she's not babbling and you'd like a referral for a hearing test and for the HV to do the Ages & Stages for 8 months.

I agree that if you are worried to contact your HV, but just for perspective my DD wasn’t crawling or trying to crawl at 8 months. She couldn’t get herself into the sitting position until she could crawl which was more like 10/11 months. Pulling to stand came around the same time. I was a bit worried that she didn’t seem fussed about getting on the move, but she walked at the very average age of 13 months and now at almost 2 she runs, hops, jumps and you’d have no idea she was a bit behind. So I’d be inclined to say it’s too soon to panic.

Thank you. Well she is trying to be on a crawling position and she is rocking. Well earlier today she crawed a bit trying to get the toy. So i hope its a start. I dont think she has issues with her hearing. She passed the newborn hearing test and she responds to her name when we call her. Maybe its a personality? Like she is just really a quiet baby? I hear some babbling when she has this toy on her mouth.

Thank u for sharing this. She was actually born earlt at 36 weeks and 3 days so it might be one of the reason as well. Early today while she was on her tummy, I saw her trying to be in a crawling position and had moved forward a bit. So hopefully its the start.

The hearing test suggestion was because she's not babbling. If she gets referred to SLT they will want her to have had a hearing test to rule out glue ear Wink

How did she get on with the progress checker I linked to?

Well there is no option for 8 months so I used 6 months instead and she passed.

That's really good then. It says if they are between checkers to use the younger one Wink

My baby turned 9 months on the 26th. She started babbling at 8.5 months but she dont really babbles a lot. She can sit on her own now and roll and crawl. She also pulls herself to stand. All these started few weeks after she turned 8months.

Yes. She has been doing this even before her 8 month. I think my concerns now are she hasnt learn to clap and wave yet. But I am bot so worried as I know she will learn that anytime soon. Worrying wont help, I just want to enjoy my baby before I realized she is no longer a baby. May I know what is your concern with you LO?

@elskio26 How are things with your little girl now? I saw you posted last year that you still had some concerns and wondered how you are getting on? 🙂
