Gp appointment

My child has an appointment with the GP soon to discuss a hearing test recommended by nursery. Child having some behavioural issues at home and what I think are sensory issues. I probably sound silly thinking about this but how do I discuss this with the GP while my child is sitting with me ? They are four so I don’t think it’s ideal to sit there and discuss this in front of them , what would you do if you were me? I think it’s ADHD as it runs in the family but I know they don’t diagnose untill 6 so should I just ask about the hearing test and not discuss any of my concerns regarding possible ADHD?

If possible, bring another adult with you so you can go in first whilst your child waits with the other adult. Then bring in the child. We did this recently for a GP appointment where we didn't want our three year old hearing all the details.

I guess if a physical exam isn't necessary, possibly you could even attend without your child being there at all.

Agree with taking another adult with you.

If you can't do that, ask the HV to refer her for the hearing test abs also ask her to do an ages & stages assessment.
