When they want one because their mates all have one and they feel left out.

If that never happens? Then never.

Unless largely bosomed in which case a sports bra for PE is a good thing.

AGree with Slur. Peer pressure tends to be the biggest decider, rather than comfort or necessity.

there are some good books aimed at girls regarding the changes

I got my first one in what would now be Yr6, primarily because they hurt so much I needed the support. It wasn't peer pressure for me,I was hugely embarrassed as I was pretty much the only girl wearing one.

I'd follow your DDs lead with this, suggest getting one if you think it's needed, but she might be fine with t-shirt bra, or a close fitting vest.

When they want one - or when it looks as if they need one, whichever is sooner. My dd had crop tops in year 6 - but she usually wears a bra now in year 7 - especially if she's got games or anything she needs to change for.

Don't leave it too late - I was 12 and didn't have one as I didn't need one and I got bullied and for some reason called a lesbian (!?) I think kids were more immature back then!

DD got measured at M & S the other day for a bra... she is in year 7 and is 11.

Oh harman, the lump may be a bud...
How old is she

Sherbert37 · 19/02/2008 09:07

We had lumps as well and the doctor said it was the start of them growing. I hate to see bare bodies through thin school shirts, so DD had a bra before she really needed one, in the summer when she was 11. Just about everyone was wearing one by then.
