My dd turns 3 on the 4th January next year. She's currently being assessed for autism/adhd/learning difficulties (it's still a little early to tell but she's very behind on her development and has lots of stims so has just started the assessment process). My health visitor asked if I want to put her in school nursery when she turns 3. She currently goes to a private nursery every Wednesday for the full day and loves it, they're fab with her.
I was thinking of delaying her starting school nursery till April next year as I just don't feel like she'll be ready for a school setting in January - only says 4 words currently and potty training isn't even on our radar. I know schools are trained to deal with the meltdowns (she turns violent when the meltdown goes nuclear) but I can't help but feel anxious for my little munchkin as it'll be such a big change!
DH thinks she should go into school, I want to keep her at nursery. We need to decide soon so we can potentially apply for her place.
Any advice please, anyone been in the same situation?
