Absence seizures in 18MO

Very anxious mum here. I think my LO might be having absence seizures. We thought she was just staring into space but se have started touching her nose, clapping in front of her, saying her name etc and she doesn't react. The nursery have mentioned it twice. We have a hospital referral but it's not for a while so in the meantime I am getting quite anxious as she's so young. Does anyone have any experience of this at this age?

The best thing you can do while you wait is gather video evidence of what is happening. It's important you try and get her attention through voice and touch on video. Take videos of anything else that's of concern if there is anything. It's going to be far easier when you do get an appointment if the doctor can see what you are talking about.

I don't have experience at that age but I'm very used to dealing with these types of seizures with ds.

@notnowdebra thank you. I've only managed to catch the end of one of them so far but we'll keep trying

They can be hard to catch. I hope you get seen and get answers asap.
