Does anyone else think this is bizarre?

DS will be 3 in March. He's always been good at talking and seems pretty bright but he has always been rubbish with colours. Basically not interested and will just randomly say a colour name when asked 'what colour is this?'

Anyway tonight we were looking at a picture of a rainbow in his bedtime book and he was saying 'that's the oolour of an apple' pointing at green etc.

Then he pointed at red and said, 'that's the colour that makes people feel angry'

[hmn] how can he know that and not be able to name the colours!

DH and I just think it's a bit strange {grin]

Oooh - you know, was at the Zoo today (bear with me, I'm going somewhere with this!) and sat through a talk about Lizards - the lady was talking about the lizard's mouth being red and his tongue being blue and said that there are two universal colours that we instinctively know - they are red and blue. Red for anger and blue for poison (we generally don't eat blue food do we - apart of blueberries!) so its probably an inherent instinctual thing.....and that the lizard was so coloured so that when it opened its mouth, it could warn predators...am dangerous and poisonous!!

He'll be raising an eyebrow at you next

soph28 · 16/02/2008 20:11

lol Cocolepew- he probably has been on MN

I think he already does raise an eyebrow!

PussinJimmyChoos- that's interesting, it really must be an innate knowledge! He seems to have confirmed that anyway!

Its amazing really....was a good talk btw and I very bravely at the end of it.....touched a tarantula to try and get over my spider fear!!

Maybe he saw a cbeebies prog or book or image where they went red with anger. Just thinking of the 'I want my potty' princess, who often has a red face. Not meant as an insult - but when your cross, does your face go red? Mine does...

soph28 · 16/02/2008 20:21

Asked DH if my face went red when I'm angry but he doesn't seem to think so and he should know!

He's probably doing it on purpose. My dd (3 in April)does this with numbers - every number is 8. She thinks it's hilarious
