When did your baby start rolling?

Hello, just wondering when did everyone's babies start rolling front to back and back to front?
My baby just turned 5months and although is pushing up on his arms and is doing the parachute pose, pushing with his legs when on his back, he is still not rolling. He did roll a few times from front to back. Is this normal? He has started bouncing a lot and can sit when put in that position. Thanks

Hi. Our 5.5 month is just starting to roll onto her side

5.5 months front to back but only because she hated tummy time.

8.5 months back to front.

Hi both! Thank you, ok that sounds promising! Did they show any other signs prior to rolling apart from what I mentioned? 😬

DD1 rolled front to back at just over 6 months and back to front at 8.5 months. She was cruising before she rolled back to front, and I used to wonder if she'd end up stuck on her back like a turtle. Rolling just wasn't one of her priorities...

DD2 rolled both ways at 4.5 months. Neither really gave any signs, other than being able to get onto their sides first..

@skkyelark oh wow 4.5 both ways sounds super advanced! But it's good to hear that all babies seem to be different and it is all good! ☺️

4.5 months was definitely a bit of a surprise after DD1! I think the range for rolling is particularly wide because some babies really go for it and some just are not bothered. On the plus side, nappy changes are easier before they can flip themselves over.

Our LO is doing all the same as your bubba. She loves bouncing in her door bouncer

Srx1 · 26/04/2023 20:51

@skkyelark oh yeah that seems to be the case! Ohh I can imagine nappy changes will become interesting soon 😅
@Kimberz yeah so much bouncing haha! And wants to stand up, goes all rigid if I try to lay him down
