Extra tooth

StressedAndHarrassedMama · 15/02/2008 11:15

Noticed last night that ds (just turned 2) has his bottom pointed teeth coming through, then I realised that between these he has 5 front teeth instead of 4.

Just wondering if anyone else's dc's has any extra teeth?

sorry for delay - only just spotted your post - my DS also has an extra tooth - dentist said nothing to worry about - the tooth bud just divided into two when he was still in my tummy - apparantly a bit like when an embryo splits to become twins

isn't a problem and doesn't mean that he'll get 2 adult teeth in that place

Ds had this. His extra one was slighty offset from the middle (ie, between the A and B tooth on one side) dentist said it was more usual to get the extra one right in the middle. His was pulled out as it was causing overcrowding (it's very easy to pull a baby tooth). When his permanent ones came through there was an extra one of those in the same place as well which also had to be extracted (he had sedation for that). Dentist had told us this might happen, but doesn't always.

Thanks for your replies- nice to know he's not alone!

He has been to the dentist but wouldn't let him have a proper look so it hasn't been picked up on before- can't believe it's taken me so long to notice
