2 year old with delayed speech

My just turned 2 year old has delayed speech.

If your 2 ye old was the same. When did you notice an improvement? When did they catch up to their peers?

depends on the child. My ds is 4.5 and still behind, I expect he’ll need speech therapy.

My son is almost 3 and has a speech delay.
He can say lots of words but doesn't have conversation or understand gestation outside of basic questions.
He goes through phases of taking 2 steps forwards and 1 back all the time. I feel like I haven't seen much progress on a while and I'm feeling really worried :(
