Almost 3yr old sudden stutter and speaking high pitched

my nearly 3 year old boy has started suddenly stuttering quite badly the last few days. It’s been so bad today he’s basically spoke in a high pitched voice most of the day when trying to get his words out. I understand that a developmental stutter is very common but from reading online the high pitched voice could be a cause for concern. I just wondered if anyone else experienced this with their little ones (the voice change) and any advice. Thank you in advance!

I don't know anything about changing to a high pitched voice, although obviously ignoring everything they say till they speak properly. I think though if I were you I'd contact Speech & Language UK to see if they have any information and can offer any support.

It went away after a couple of months - please don’t worry! My son is 4 now and you would never know he went through that phase. We found it best to not make too much of it and give him time to say what he wants to say but help him if he got too upset by it. Make sure she gets plenty of good sleep and distractions such as things she can do that don’t involve having to talk too much (books drawing etc). Contact the HV if you are worried x
