16 month old never responds to name

He knows loads of words, has good eye contact, is interested in other children, affectionate, follows simple commands (e.g give this to nanny)… but never ever responds to his name. Should I be worried?

From what I've read on here, I think it might be unusual for them to have speech and understanding but not respond to their name?

That's only my conclusion after hanging around MN munch too much though.

I'd book an appointment with your HV. Tell her that you are concerned that LO does not respond to their name abs don't be put off by the HV.

Ask her to do the Ages & Stages and to refer LO for a hearing test.

If nothing is wrong then at least you will have been reassured
