18 month old DD bashing herself on the head in frustration

Any one else experience this?

If DD is told that she mustn't touch something because its dangerous or she doesn't get her way (even over the smallest thing), she starts bashing her hands against her head quite hard. She wimpers but then does it again. I have tried gently taking hold of her hand & saying 'stop' but I wonder if just ignoring it is simply the way to go. I just don't want to do the wrong thing in the long term.

How long does this phase last? Any advice? Thanks.

All perfectly normal, Izbella

May last a few months, DS1 would headbang kitchen floor when he was that age, I would quietly move him to the rug and let him get on with it.

So, ignore, distract, redirect, basically.

Take care

Izabella, my ds2 did this for ages around the age of your lo. Infact he banged his head on absolutely anything, floor, doors, table, cot, wall........everywhere.
iwas really concerned and everyone told me to try and ignore it which is so hard but it does definately work. Itwas so bad that I even considered getting one of thoses soft boxers helmets for him to wear, sad but true.
Good luck, try and be patient
