Autism...worried Mum

I feel like I insanely worried at the moment.

My son is 2 and half and I have some worries that I just cannot shake off.

What does everyone think...Reading these?

-Gets close to Tv to watch motion movement, move past eyeline

-Spinning, side eye views

-Bites hand when overstimulated

-Spinning things, fascinated by things that spin

-Stimming like behaviour when seeing things move, cars moving, wheels spinning, water flowing....moves legs and holds breath

  • Unable to wait

With all that being said, he is very sociable, enjoys speaking to others, has good vocabulary for his age, knows colours and numbers, enjoys stories, plays with cars and most toys how should be played with, is happy boy, sleeps well, eats well.

The TV thing isn't necessarily worrying but I would get him an eye test. You might have to ring a few Opticians to find one that will test such a young child, but there are some.

As for the other stuff, I'd start by doing this progress checker from Talking Point as it's a good indicator as to whether they some additional support. It will tell you if he does need support with SLT and there's a helpline.

I'd also phone the HV and ask her to do an Ages & Stages Assessment. Depending on whether the above progress checker highlighted anything, I would discuss those with her too.

Let us know how you get on Flowers
