Help DS suddenly started wetting himself but he doesn't seem to know he's doing it

DS is 4, been potty trained in the day since he was 3 years old and been fab about it, hardly any accidents.

Recently (last couple months) he's started wetting himself. Today it was 3 times, the 1st and the 3rd time he honestly didn't seem to know he had done it. In fact the 3rd time I had to take his pants off and make him smell them (sorry!) before he would accept he'd done it.

I don't know what to do!

go to Dr to rule out infection

Even though there is no pain? I thought he would get pain if infection.

Will definately make an appt though.
