Toddler throwing things then crying

Is anyone able to explain why toddlers throw things on the floor then cry and have a massive meltdown because they want them back?
My 2.4 month old will ask for his juice, take a sip, throw it on the floor then cry because he wants it back. He does this with lots of other things. It happens often in the car but other places too.

Is there a reason for this behaviour?
It’s driving me insane!

It’s helpful to think of your toddler as your drunk friend you’re trying to get home from the pub. Be nice, keep them safe, but don’t expect them to make any sense.
