Constant sniffing driving me mad!

My DD aged 9 has seemingly developed a habit of sniffing. Constantly. She's sniffing easily every 10-15 seconds. This has been going on for at least 6 weeks now so a habit we hoped might go as quickly as it came looks like it might be here to stay! And if so, I may well rip my hair out! She had a cold about 2 months ago and the sniffing just seems to have continued since, despite her no longer having anything to sniff!

Hoping someone has some advice on how to support her with managing it and how I can cope with hearing it!

I assume you've pointed it out to her? You could try exaggerated sniffing back at her and see how she reacts. I only say this as I developed a habit of twitching my nose (yes, like a rabbit!) when I was younger and had no idea I was doing it, until my Mum did it and I asked what on earth she was doing! She told me I did it all the time - it cured me.

Yes we've spoken to her about it and she said she doesn't realise she's doing it. We agreed we'd tell her when she was doing it but we just end up telling her every 5 mins, with no real effect. The exaggerated sniffing is worth a try though, thanks!
