Does anyone else have a short, podgy toddler?

Ds2 is on the 2nd centile for height and the 25th for weight. He's 22 months old and looks like a bad tempered, golden ringleted garden gnome.

I was short too, but according to my mother (who is not always to be relied upon) I was very thin and dainty. Ds2 is not thin and dainty. The word 'portly' could have been coined for him.

Do they grow (literally) out of it or is he destined to be short and podgy forever?

I don't know. My tall podgy toddlers grew into very tall slim children though, so I'm not worried about ds, who is built like a tank (He's almost 2)

Well, Ds1 was tall and podgy, but a lot more muscular. Ds2 really does look like a cherub.

My 3 year old dd is built like a tank too - bless her. She is solid and has kissable chunky thighs (like mine). She is going to be a prop forward.

Yes, words like prop forward and chunky have been used about all mine.
Unless you are feeding him a hugely inappropriate diet, he will thin out as he gets older, Colditz.

People keep saying "OH he's so forward, isn't he!"

And I simper, and smile, and I keep his age to myself because he does look about 15 months old! And he's actually nearly 2.

Oooer plenty of tall toddlers, but no stumpy ones like mine I have passed him short dna!

My 22-month-old is very short and round - she is shorter than her 15-month-old friend. Her brothers are quite long and bony now but I think they also were tanklike once...
