Hi my DD has always been a hyper child but I’m starting to get a bit worried now. She is almost 10 and she gets uncontrollably hyper. It’s like she can’t control herself and no matter what anyone says or does she just goes crazy. She doesn’t usually finish activities without going off getting distracted and if she gets hyper she goes nuts. She jumps in peoples faces, grabs ppl, screams. It’s not being nasty she’s just happy but it’s just so over the top. We were making pancakes tonight and she stopped doing it after 5 minutes and then started running around the kitchen, singing really loud, screeching. I mean I’m all for kids having fun and what not but it was insane. One time when she was younger I was at a neighbours and she got hyper and refused to leave no matter what anyone said to her and we actually had to carry her outside to get her out the house. Is this something to worry about or is it normal behaviour? She wouldn’t act like that school though but she has at friends houses. However the teacher has mentioned that she does get distracted very easily and she is a bit behind in where she should be which is ok not everyone is perfect but I’m wonderin if its connected somehow. She has got hyper and ran into lampposts and jumped off walls without thinking how high they are. She is normally more like this when she is with friends. If it’s just me she isn’t as bad.
