Concerns (2 year old- going to be 24 months in 1 week)

  1. Speech delayed - Says up to 40 words, adding new words every week but not stringing 2 words yet.

  2. He claps, waves, points however his waving is a concern- very rarely waves by himself have to prompt him
most of the time to wave or by slightly lifting his hands.

  3. Archs his back, goes limp and falls on ground when he dont want us to lift him. (mostly when he wants to play, run etc)

  4. Can Shake his head to answer no or says no but dont nod his head yes or answer yes yet.

  5. he is day dreaming many times a day. when he is eating he is mostly like day dreaming seeing somewhere?
after reading in internet i am scared if this is kind of visual stimming (autistic kids do)
he loves to see himself in mirror and shadows? he dances, stomps, make funny faces in front of mirror or shadows.
    Is this normal?

  6. Run in new places without even waiting for parents.

His plus points :

  1. Understands all simple commands and follows instructions.

  2. good eye contact, affectionate, joint attention , plays with parents, other children etc

  3. Identify body parts, Puzzles, Identify and points to objects in books.

  4. Passes ASQ (communication in grey and other in white) and MCHAT.

I would just concentrate on the speech right now and not worry about things that he may or may not have as it's almost impossible for anyone to be sure at this age anyway. Spend as much time as you can talking to him, describing what you are doing and what he is doing. Play with his toys with him and talk about his toys with him. Read really engaging picture books with him, the library can be great for finding new ones. Sing nursery rhymes and children's songs with him and just have fun.
