ADHD medication rebound

My DS has recently finally been diagnosed with ADHD (had to go private but have known for many years this was the case!).

He’s been prescribed methylphenidate hydrochloride and we have Tranquilin, low dose to start with before a review. However - even on the lowest dose my DS has a very strong rebound at about 5-6.30pm. He’s climbing the walls! I have read about it and I understand why etc.

have any other parents had this? Does it settle in time - does it need a different dose? Or brand? He sleeps well so I don’t want to give another dose only for him to rebound right at bedtime!

That's no problem. You haven't done anything wrong, you just might find some others with experience of the rebound in that section.
