Baby won’t let me touch hands

Trying to cut my 10 month olds nails is a nightmare. I no longer let him go to sleep on me and this was the only way I used to get them cut.

but I’ve noticed he doesn’t like me actually holding his hands in general unless he reaches out to hold me. Any time I try to touch his hands he pushes away. He is fine having arms touched.

he also won’t let me cut toe nails yet I can touch his toes to play this little piggy.

using Tommy tippee nail scissors and have also tried an electric nail buffer thing that is also rejected by my baby and once I get it anywhere near his nails they just end up sharp and raggedy coz he flails around so much.

any tips?
anyone else experienced baby with hand holding dislike? Do they grow out of it? Is it going to be an issue?

My 10 month old DS has always been wriggly when doing his nails.
I take him to the park and aim the pushchair at the pond so he can watch the ducks whilst I quickly do his finger nails with an electric file for a few mins. Flocks of pigeons and dogs also work!
For his toenails I have him inside facing the garden (too cold to get his toes out at the park at the moment) - either with him in his pram or in his highchair.

I @24HoursFromTulseHill thank you for your reply. The garden would be no good for us as he gets over excited and slaps his hands against the patio glass 😂
I did try distracting him with the remote, managed to snip a few before he had had enough

what brand electric nail file do you use as mine seems a bit naff

Hi @Lullabies2Paralyze, I use a Tommee Tippee electric nail file in his nails. I use it on the max setting because I try to do both hands in a couple of minutes.
Have you tried letting him watch tv when you do his nails? That was my other trick when the weather was bitterly cold and I didn't want to get his fingers out when we were out in the pram.
