Getting Angry/Upset at Nursery

Hi,

Wanted to know if anyone else's nursery age child gets upset and angry sometimes when asked to go to the toilet in nursery? How did you resolve it?

Mine has started a new nursery 2 and a half weeks ago and has gotten upset and angry on 2 or 3 occassions when asked to go to the toilet. The staff are very concerned about his reaction.

This is surprising for me as he goes to the toilet happily anywhere and everywhere when he is with me without any fuss (libraries, restaurants, trains, grandparents' house, aunt's house, friends' houses).

What could be causing him to react like this? It really upsets me that he is doing that. I don't understand why.

I was thinking he's probably tired of them telling him everytime to use the toilet when he doesn't need it.

At home, we always wait for him to tell us, which he does every single time. Even at night, he never wears a pull up. If on the odd occasion that he does need a wee at night, he comes into our room and tells us he needs a wee. He's only in nursery for a short morning session of 2 and half hours andoesn't drink much.

Mine gets upset if he doesn't need to go and would rather be playing. He also hates if anyone tries to make him sit down as he only wants to wee standing up. Wonder if it's anything like that?

If he's only there for 2.5 hours he just might not need to go for a wee.

How often are they trying to get him to go to the toilet?
