Hi we have recently had to change my 15 week old son to lactose free formula he's been on it 3 weeks now doesn't seem to be screaming in pain anymore but this last week or so has decided to refuse the bottle he will sleep feed a whole 150ml but I can't always do that as he's awake alot more now. I have tried different positions techniques nothing seems to work I don't know what else to do. Has anyone got any advise please? Desperate right now just need him to take the bottle again

@Catover my baby is going through this right now! I’ve been following the Rowena Bennett bottle aversion book and did see an improvement but we have relapsed slightly so having to start back to day 1 again!! If you haven’t got the book I do recommend it, a lot of people have successfully reverted feeding aversion

Agree with Sassy on the book.

Just wondering too what made you choose Lactose free formula? Was it advised by a GP or Paediatrician?

It's just that very few babies have a problem with Lactose. If they do have a problem with Cow's Milk it's usually the protein.

Thank you both I have downloaded the book and started reading it tonight in between my little man screaming
Yeah GP advised it as he was screaming in pain after having so much of his formula (cow & gate)
Oh I had no idea about that as we are first time parents
He sleep feeds 150ml down just doesn't take alot when he's awake it's such a struggle with him

@Catover i totally empathise with you. My baby’s feeding aversion made my anxiety really quite bad! But essentially the book tells you not to force the feeds AT ALL! It will send your anxiety through the roof the first 2/3 days, but I saw huge improvement days 4/5 onwards. We relapse because my anxiety was getting triggered again as we have a weigh in coming up soon and I had started to subtlety pressure feeds again (kicking myself!). So my advise would be stick to the guide in the book religiously

Was the link any use @Catover? Does your LO have any of the symptoms?

Catover · 06/02/2023 08:20

Thanks for advice @SassyPants87

He had diarrhoea for a couple of days before we saw GP and he has alot of wind anyway but non of the others other than crying in pain when feeding that's the main reason we took him go doctors

If he's having that many symptoms of CMPA I'd ring Allergy UK's Helpline and see if they think it's CMPA Flowers

Catover · 06/02/2023 11:57

What is CMPA?
