Dear all,
My name is Rachael. I'm a 49 year old parent of 3. Karma is biting me on the bum! The following request was asked of me when one of mine was little and I thought it was weird and stupid; now I know how important it is - and from what I've heard, valuable for the participant - I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor for children and adolescents and i am also on a pre-clinical training in human development leading to a Doctoral study in Analytical Psychology for children and young people.... only leading to a Doctoral study if I can find one family to participate...
The request:
I'm looking for a family who are soon to have or who have just had a baby who would be willing and able to allow me to sit quietly (and non-judgementally!) in their home for an hour. This would be at the same time each week and would continue for up to two years - there is flexibility for holidays and other stuff. The aim is to observe your amazing developing child in a family context. Perhaps even if this sounds really far out to you, you might know someone else who might find this of interest?
The benefits? Warm fuzzy feels of doing something good and also a containing supported feeling of someone just being there. Drawbacks: It is a commitment for up to two years And isn't for everybody.
Thank you for reading
Rachael
