How do you react if your child does something you've repeatedly asked them not to?

Hi all,

So I've just been made aware that my son is taking football cards into school to trade and show to friends, we have had discussions in the past in which he has promised me he wouldn't as the school have made it clear on a few occasions it's becoming a problem in the class.

I know there is worse things that a child could do and we were all young once and had crazes or things we'd take into school.

But I'm more upset that we've always had a close bond and he promised me he wouldn't and tells me he doesn't but he has been taking them in for weeks.

I don't know if I'm overreacting but I feel really upset and annoyed at the moment.

Am I right to confiscate his devices? What would other parents do?

I'd confiscate the cards personally.
