7.5 old weaning help

Hi all,

I was looking to get some advice/recommendations on a weaning schedule for my little one.

This is currently what he's having:
8am: 7oz
10:30: Porridge
12pm: 7oz
3pm: small amount of fruit
4pm: 7oz
6:30: Baby rice and some veg
8am: 7oz
2am approx: 6oz

He is currently only having a small amount of solids (max 2 tablespoons) and I'm aware that it's because of the large amount of milk he's having but when I tried to feed him before the milk in the morning for example he wasn't interested. He also doesn't like being spoonfed so we have gone down the BLW route.

Spoke to the health visitor this morning who said you need to reduce the milk slightly but also aware that milk is still their main source of nutrition until 1

Can anyone recommend adjustments or things to change in the above schedule to encourage him to try more solids?

Many thanks!

Could you change it around a bit?

So still give the 8 an bottle of that suits you but then give breakfast at 9am.

If he doesn't like being spoon fed, try a banana. You can split them from the top into 3 segments that make them easier to hold.

Other things that he might like for breakfast porridge fingers, blueberry pancakes, smooth nut butter on toast or omelette strips.

12 pm bottle

3pm bottle

5pm something like spag Bol, fish pie, chicken korma.

8pm bottle

Once he's between 8 and 9 months you can add in lunch.

My little one is 8 months and his routine is as follows

7.30am Milk
8.30 Breakfast (Porridge/Weetabix/Avo toast/Egg)
11am Milk
12/12.30 Lunch (Hummus, veg, omelette etc)
3pm Milk
5pm Dinner (Curry, cottage pie, pasta, chicken casserole. Basically what we're having)
6.30pm Milk

I'd aim to just do 2 meals a day for now and then when he's a little older then add in lunch.

Are you able to wean him off the night feed? Or is that easier said than done?

When he's more used to solids then he'll take more in and in time reduce the milk intake accordingly.

I'd also agree that you probably don't need to wait so long after milk to give solids, so an earlier breakfast and dinner might work better?

When does he nap? Maybe he's too tired to eat much at the moment?

Thanks @PritiPatelsMaker, I will give that a go. I did try before the morning milk but just got screamed at :)

@P0mbears thanks, we did manage to wean him off the night feed about a month ago but he's been waking up more frequently since then.
Will try to introduce the solids a little bit earlier and see if that helps.

In terms of naps, he's gone down to 3 a day; between 9:30 and 10, around 1 and again between 3:30 and 4.

I'd also try a dream feed about 10 or 11 and see if they drop the early hours feed .
