Since around 12 months I’ve had a gut feeling my son is on the spectrum.
He is now 3years 3 months old and some days I feel like he can’t be then other days I’m ready to have him assessed.
Many screeners and HV visits including 3 separate SOGS have said he doesn’t display and red flags and development is on track.
Behaviours he displays make me always doubt though.
-He Loves washing machine, hairdryers, clippers and hoovers will often just go up to people and tell them my washing machine is spinning or ask if they have one even if they say yes he may ask them again later and ask lots of questions about them. Can change the subject but he will sometimes go back to asking about washing machines this also happens with hoovers too.
-spins looks out corner of eyes and Will sometimes do it without spinning had eyes checked
-Asks questions he knows the answer to.
-Likes to say whose hair is up or down will sometimes tell me to put my hair up or down
-Doesn’t shake head no or yes unless prompted but has used yes and no since about 14 months. He used to shake his head no before that but never nodded.
will talk to literally anyone
nursery Teacher has said he can appear vacant when asked to do something and she needs to repeat it I’ve not seen this at home he will do what he’s asked maybe a settling in thing and he loves the washing machine there but has no concerns.

His eye contact is amazing, his speech is really good, excellent pretend play, shows empathy, no noise or food sensitivity, can break routine, doesn’t have any sort of ritual like lining up toys etc. Joint attention is good too.

He doesn’t have red flags as such I just question his behaviours.

sorry for the essay
Thanks x

I don't know about autism specifically.... but just to say my now almost 8 year old son is only just getting less enthusiastic about washing machines!!! Up until about a year ago, he was totally obsessed. If we went anywhere all he was interested in was whether there was a washing machine there. If so, he liked to spin the drum. His idea of fun was to go to Currys and look at/spin all the washing machines.

He also used to find other things that spinfor example he used to ask me to lay the buggy upside down so he could spin the wheels!

As far as I know he's not neurodivergent. He's now doing really well at school and has moved his obsession to cars!
