6 month old suddenly hysterical

Hi all

My 6 month old is hard work and has a very strong cry but I can usually console him. Today I was feeding him puree and he started to cry so I took him out the high chair and kneeled down to pick the spoon he had thrown on the floor up and accidentally hit the back of his head on the table (which has rounded corners).

It wasn't that hard to be honest it was a little bang but I'm sure he's bumped his head harder before when he's fallen from sitting up but for some reason he became absolutely hysterical like I could not console him this went on for 45 mins until he cried himself to sleep then he woke up and continued until I breasted him to sleep.

Should I take him to the doctor? Do you think he hurt himself a lot harder than I thought? Has anyone's child cried hysterically randomly?! I just don't know ;( I think he's teething because he's been pulling on his ears chewing and dribbling a lot and waking up at night screaming but I mean I don't think he had sudden intense teething pain or anything. I also think he's going through a growth spurt - can they get growing pains?

I'm just so worried!

Thanks in advance
