I have a 2. years old has sever receptive delay .. Her expressive is growing she has 30 words , she can label alot of things around her , she use the words in the right situations, But she is struggling to understand what u are saying to her , and every time someone try to talk to her it just broke my heart to see her not understanding what being said !! She understands things like shoes, socks, eat , clean up , brush , sleep , come , no and yes , food names , set and stand , bath like the very basic things she hears always , but she can’t respond to where is your sister ? Where is ur dad ? If u ask me i can say she understands like maybe 1 year old? when she was 18 months she was just understanding come and no . I’m thankful she is progressing for sure but to see how behind she is … its sooo hard crying everynight , praying she can grow out of her delay.
Any positive stories will be appreciated...

Hi I don't have any personal experience in this area but there is a mumsnetter whose child(ren?) had a receptive language delay and she posted many many times about her experiences and recommendations. She's a bit of a legend! Do a search for the user 'lingle' xx

What help are you getting @mthrofflwr? Has she been referred to SLT and has she had a hearing test?

Hi @mthrofflwr have you followed this up with you HV or GP? In a similar situation and want to be armed with the best knowledge of what help to ask for.

@PritiPatelsMaker I have seen you post in a few speech delay threads and you seem to know a little about it. I'd love to hear if you have any advice.

@mthrofflwr how is you little one doing now? I am in a similar situation. Is there anything in particular you might have tried that worked for you?
