9 month old not babbled yet

Hi,

my son who’s 9 months hasn’t babbled and doesn’t say sounds such as “ma, da and ba” at all. He does however do the following:

trying to clap his hands when we clap ours

is a very noisy baby sometimes and loves to scream and say “ahhhhhhhhh”

can say “ahhhhhhh” back to us when we do it first

pretends to cough when we cough

very good eye contact

I’m just so nervous because my friends babies who were born 1 month after my son are all babbling constantly and my son is sometimes quiet and doesn’t babble when he does communicate. My anxiety about this has been made worse since the development review where I was told he should be babbling by now

is there anybody else who has had a baby not babble?

What did they suggest at the review @Emmaeloiseee? Has he been referred for a hearing test? Did they suggest starting using some Makaton signs with him?
