Baby doesn't want to be held when awake?

My 2 month old has recently developed an aversion to being held when he's awake. He will happily cuddle to sleep but when he's awake he won't sit on my lap or like I used to sit him on my tummy propped against my legs on the sofa so I could chat with him and play games funny faces etc but now he just whinges until I put him into his bouncy chair or on his play mat and then he's happy again. He's happy and smiley then and will smile at me and chat with me in the rocker. I just feel so rejected, I thought babies wanted to be held all the time. People keep saying it sounds great and I should make the most of him being independent but I just feel rejected 😥

I can understand you feeling rejected. My DN was very much like this. Now a very independent teen.

At least you have those sleepy cuddles to look forward to Flowers

@CSR721 did thus improve for you x

@testy1997 yes definitely improved! Looking back, I think i may have had a touch of PND. He's 9 months now and goes through phases and definitely had his clingy phases as well as not so clingy phases! At the moment he just wants to crawl everywhere haha x

@CSR721 this makes me feel better as think my baby hates me as she won't settle with me at all but does immediately after she is put down!

@testy1997 it's hard!!! He won't sleep on us anymore now either unless he's poorly, he falls asleep lying next to us as he was just fidgeting or struggling to get comfortable while being held. But on the flip side he's constantly pulling at my trouser legs to be picked up or for me to hold his hands so he can stand and walk. I do miss the cuddles, but we had lots of snuggles in between then and now, and people have assured me that when he's a little older he'll want to cuddle again 💕 but its important to remember she definitely doesn't hate you and it's a good thing she feels safe enough to be put down x x

@CSR721 do you remember when things started to get better?
