Hello. I have an 11 week old baby boy and am concerned about his ability to make eye contact. When he is lying down on the floor or in his cot he makes eye contact with me, smiles, responds to smiles and coos etc etc; however when I pick him up and hold him to either side in my lap or facing me he won't make eye contact at all and will look every which way but at me (he is the same with everybody. I know intellectually that it is way too early to associate with autism BUT on an emotional level this is a key concern and I was wondering if anyone else had had this experience and what the outcome was? Many thanks for sharing xx

My ds1 was like this. He used to actively look away if I tried to make eye contact. He used to stare at any part of the room. It used to worry me so much particularly when I compared him to other babies. He is now a teenager and is not autistic. Try not to worry if you can. Xx
