Nearly2 and not one word!

Hi all,

Mum worries are really getting to me lately.

It's becoming increasingly noticeable my wee boy (23 months) is developmentally behind with communication (not said one word). He was born super small and 4 weeks early, and always put him being behind down to that but now he's nearing two and as each month passes - I begin to worry more.

Motor skills, he absolutely smashes. He's met every milestone there. He's super active - he is never ever still!

He claps, has only just began waving (very selectively), does actions to nursery rhymes, babbles and makes lots of noise. Points to things in books, but not to get my attention. His eye contact is hit and miss, but I wouldn't say he's avoidant. Walks on his tip toes sometimes. He's pretty affectionate and responds to others emotions especially happy ones!

He doesn't always respond to his name...however, he has had 5 ear infections in his little life and we are on a waiting list for this to be checked.

He's recently just started nursery in the hope that will help, and we are on the waiting list for speech assessment.

But, I guess I just want to hear if any other parents have wee ones like mine and if their communication came on, or I may be looking at an ASD situation?

Would love to hear some support/positive stories/about your little ones.

Thanks! ❤️
