10 mo old can’t sit unaided

my baby just turned 10 months and he can only sit unaided for a half a minute at the most before either toppling over sideways or throwing himself backwards and wriggling down to the floor. He still doesn’t have the balance and either ability/motivation to sit properly by himself. If you put him down on the floor he face plants or goes straight onto his tummy. We always thought he was just stubborn and wasn’t interested in sitting but I am starting to worry. I take him to baby groups and he is the only one with an obvious motor delay. He has been tummy crawling for a while now but still not up on all fours yet and can’t stand. He will bear weight on his legs but can’t support his own weight. He’s not a pudgy baby at all but he is tall. There’s nothing wrong with his personality - he smiles / makes eye contact and responds to his name but I have yet to meet a baby as delayed as him. He has his assessment in a few weeks but I’m very worried. Anyone else in or been in a similar situation ?

My baby didn’t sit independently until 9.5 months corrected and this was deemed late. He’s a big/tall baby now despite being born premature.

If I were you I would consider getting him evaluated by a physio incase he needs some intervention to help him. I don’t mean to worry you at all, just that the earlier the better to get the ball rolling. My baby is 20 months now and has been later with all of his gross motor skills actually (had lower tone in his legs) but physio are really happy and he’s progressing really well, nearly walking independently.
