What do you expect from teachers

6 year old is struggling in the mornings going into school. Fine getting ready at home until we hit the classroom and he tries to not go in, sometimes tears.

He said he sometimes cries in school, last week apparently he told teachers he had tummy ache (he did not) and got sent to another room to relax.

Would you expect the teacher to atleast keep you updated at the end of the week as to how he got on so I can monitor the situation? We don't get told anything.

The tummy ache could be very real as stress could very easily manifest as tummy ache.

Can he articulate what's bothering him? Is there any bullying?

Yes sorry I meant no tummy ache as in he wasn't physically ill but yes it could have been anxious/stress related.

He just says he misses me, the teacher says it can occur when routine changes happen. Last year he was bubbly talking to everyone, not so much with other kids tho.

This year he seems to have gone inside himself, wanting to be alone, complaining of loudness in classrooms and lunch hall. Since a young age he has always been a shouter when he gets angry or frustrated. School never seen this part of him.

Now however they seem to have tears throughout the day and we do have a reduced amount of shouting but more tears to. He has completely changed since moving to year 1 and I'm worried about him. Lack of communication from teachers dosnt help.

If he's anxious, shouting, doesn't mix socially with the other children and generally unhappy in school, yes I would expect the Teacher to talk to me but they do have 30 odd children so it must be hard.

Have you had a meeting with the Teacher to talk through all of these concerns and ask for her suggestions? Has SENCO been involved yet?
