3.5yo wandering around in class

Hi all, my 3.5yo is attending preschool since last week. We received complains from teacher that he is unable to sit still and easily get bored with toys and books. He refused to follow their instructions too. He goes his own way in the classroom and seldom join the group. However he follows instructions and responds well to me at home. Teacher suggested he should be put on 1 to 1 teaching approach but I prefer him to be able to mix around with other children. Took him to specialist consultation and doctor couldn't sure that he is on the spectrum of autism. Anyone encounters this problem before and how is the child now?

Tbh this sounds all kinds of wrong. He's been there a week?! And he's only 3?! The poor kid hasn't been there long enough to settle in and even when he's settled in expectations of his attention span should be minimal. It sounds like the problem is very much with the nursery not your child tbh and it sounds like they just want him to fit their agenda and have no interest or knowledge of his developmental stage. Have they outlined a clear plan of how they're going to help him feel welcome and settled in? Have they said how they're going to support him in focussing eg gradually increasing focus time/starting with things he's interested in? If all they're doing is griping about his failure to comply without any real understanding or solutions then I'd run a mile tbh x
