Rolling babies

Really struggling with with my 6 month old who has learned to roll but hates it.

I can’t put her down at all. Being on her playmat just results in her being flipped over 500 times an hour because as soon as she is placed down, she rolls on her tummy and starts to scream. I leave her a couple of minutes to figure it out, but she gets incredibly distressed and faceplants the floor.

Bedtimes are a nightmare as she does the same thing in the cot so I can’t just put her down to chill (she’s a happy baby). She just immediately flips then screams.

The only way we get her to sleep without rocking or feeding is to lay her down with both our bodies or one person + a pillow as a bumper so she can’t roll. She happily closes her eyes and goes to sleep as she can’t flip over.

When does this phase end? It’s so hard not being able to place her down for 5 minutes without upsetting her

Just to clarify once we get her to sleep using our bodies or pillows, she is transferred to a safe, empty cot.

So we're kinda in this phase now. She can roll herself from front to back but sometimes chooses to just scream into the floor or mattress instead. We leave her to huff in bed and 90% of the time she gives in and turns over. If after five minutes she's still on her tummy we go in and roll her. I've been spending a lot of time with her on the floor on a folded blanket constantly having her roll over both ways. She seems to prefer to roll on softer surfaces rather than the hard floor (can't blame her really!). To begin with I'd slowly roll her over in stages. Over a few days she started doing it herself and getting more confidence. As she hit 7 months she just seemed to get loads more confidence and strength. Can't stop her now! Good luck x
