Fever

Hey guys,

DS had a fever starting last night of 39.3, came down with calpol to around 38ish. He’s had calpol every 4 hours since (now at the 4 in 24 hour limit) and it’s still 38.8. he doesn’t have any rashes/cold symptoms. He is very tired wants to sleep on me all day and if not he’s quite upset. He will eat and drink as normal and peeing the same. I tried to call 111 last night as he was sick quite a bit although he’s suffered with reflux for a long time so hard to tell if it’s a part of that. I’m going to get some ibuprofen instead but should I be more worried??

How old is he? I'd call out if hours GP/ 111 to be honest, even if it is just for reassurance. You can give paracetamol and ibuprofen. Ibuprofen three times a day and paracetamol 4 times per day.

He’s 10 months, I tried getting through to 111 last night and couldn’t after an hour and half of trying but his temp did come down so I left it for the night 😩 I didn’t realise you can give both I’ll do that thank you. I’ll try 111 again, I’m starting to think it’s maybe an ear infection as his ears do look a bit waxy

If you suspect an ear infection he definitely needs seeing OP. Have you managed to get through to 111 yet?
