Severe tantrums from 18 month old son

I'm worried about my 18 month old son as when he takes a tantrum it is not normal anymore. He will go find a cupboard door or hard floor and bash his head on it several times so hard until he cries, this happens when he does not get his own way or like what we have done. Also he loves to really bite me and finds it funny when I yelp out in pain. I have tried to ignore it and also tried to get him to stop these things but it just seems to get worse. Also he has this strange obsession to knocking the juice bottles down everytime he walks past them plus my daughters wellies. I really don't know what to do anymore. Any advice would help thanks x

I can remember this age being very frustrating @Bakinglovingmum.

Does he respond to normal discipline techniques?

How's his speech & language? Sometimes they can just be very frustrated if they can't express themselves Flowers

Hi @PritiPatelsMaker his language for his age is OK, he is getting there with words and most of the time he just laughs at me if I try to disapline him or say no to touching something he isn't supposed too.

My daughter when she was that age used to bash her head as well when got angry or upset but she only done it once before she realised that it hurt but her speech was so much better than my sons is at that age.

It is so frustrating as he just seems to lash out at me but is always wanting me at the same time. The other day he was slapping my face in a cafe when we were there for breakfast with my dad and when my dad said his name and said not nice in a disaplined way my wee boy went in a huff and started crying and went and hugged me.

I just try to ignore it, to try to make him get bored of it and stop it but it doesn't work. Sometimes, I feel like a joke to him.

It can be so difficult can't it? How did he do on the progress checker I linked to?

I had a look on the speech one and I would say that there was only 1 question that I would've said no too and that was the one about how many words, he does say words but I wouldn't say quite yet 20 but yes to everything else x
