Just after some solidarity really.
My previously super happy almost 2year old has totally hit the terrible twos.
A month ago he got hand foot and mouth disease and since then he has been totally different. He is almost all healed now but this has now sparked huge tantrums when he can't figure something out or do something. I know all totally normal and we do distractions that generally work very well.
However, he has started to wake in the night, totally out of character for him. I've had 4 hours sleep and now have to go to work all day. From what I've read it's separation anxiety, it ticks all the hideous boxes. We go in, no stimulation but cuddles to calm him now, he gets in such a stress bless him then he's fine. As soon as I'm out the room he's full on screaming, banging the cot. We leave it a while to see if he can calm down, then repeat.

My DH is incredible and we take turns but my gosh I feel broken, like im failing massively.

Don't really know why im posting. Thank you for reading Brew

Could he still be feeling poorly OP? Does he improve if you give him a dose of Calpol?

@PritiPatelsMaker good suggestion. We did think this so have given him calpol and antihistamine just in case but he is the same whether he has it or not unfortunately. Thank you for the reply though

So it might not that he's feeling poorly. If it is separation anxiety, leaving him alone might just make it worse, even if it's just for a short time.

It might be worth looking at the No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers & Preschoolers. It might help him to sleep and get over his separation anxiety Flowers

@PritiPatelsMaker he's slept through! Woohoo! He had a much shorter nap at lunchtime and we moved his bedtime later so he could charge around longer and I've left him with his comforter teddy which I was removing when asleep as I was worried but he's still asleep! I'm so happy! It may not work again tonight but my gosh I feel slightly more human!
I will also look at that link. Thank you very much for your advice
