Long time ago but I remember hearing (jangling keys behind head to see if DS could hear)

Asked about sleeping and eating and advised accordingly.

Weighed and measured.

Checked on sitting, crawling and standing - baby doesn't have to be able to do them but at least look like they are heading in the right direction and making an effort.

Checked to see if DS could pick up something small.

I think she may have checked on ability to clap hands.

Might have checked on eyesight - I know DS got referred to an opthalmologist(sp?) at that point due to a family history of dodgy eyes (he was fine though)

Basically a chat to make sure you are getting on OK.

Might have done a second test for PND as well.

Took about 30 minutes I think.

Hi, DS had his 8 month check 2 weeks ago. The HV measured his length and head, weighed him, had a look at him with his clothes off. She rattled some toys to see if he could hear and see OK, then put some blocks and hundreds and thousands (?) on a table for him to pick up. Asked whether he could sit (yes), crawl (no) or roll (yes). Asked if he was eating and sleeping OK (he is) and had a look through his red book. Gave me some advice about getting him to fall asleep an his own. Asked if I had any general concerns or questions - gave me some advice on how to brush his teeth and some free books and toothbrush!
HV was very supportive and told me I'd done a great job which was lovely!

Dd check was more formal, but things changed since 2005 and when ds had his 8 months check last year it was not as formal. They didn't have a checklist as with dd.

The doctor checked ds heart, hips and testes. Hv measured his head, length and weight and that's it.

Asked if there were any problems. The whole check was over within 5 minutes compared with dd whose check lasted just over 20 minutes!
