At my wits end

Need some help as I'm at the end of my patience with ds. He will be 3 in January. The youngest sibling. I understand temper tantrums but honestly I exhausted with him.

He doesn't like to be dressed and will happily sit cold, he dresses to go out but as soon as he's home he starts stripping off and will have a tantrum if I re dress him. Will wet himself just to be able to take clothes off and tell me they are wet. Hates the feel of socks and certain clothing/shoes .

He won't walk with me anywhere but also won't go in the pushchair (can unbuckle himself easily) he will either run off or sit on the pavement and refuse to move, this depends what mood he's in. I then will carry him where he screams at me to get off, hits and kicks.

If he doesn't get his own way at home he will tantrum for hours. I mean hours. He will throw things and break things purposely.

While he is having a meltdown he is inconsolable. Nothing I try makes any difference and speaking to him generally makes him worse. He will just stop randomly and the meltdown is over as quick as it began.

I dread taking him anywhere because of his behaviour. He is like this every day without fail. At least one tantrum about something, but usually happens frequently throughout the day and evening.

When he is in a good mood he is the most lovely little boy, kind caring, very clever, asks questions, loves having a chat etc. very good verbal skills.

I just don't know whether to ring the health visitor or plough on till he starts school nursery (but that's not till September)

Any advice greatly appreciated Smile

Will you get the free hours from Easter? I'd be tempted to use the free hours as soon as you can, mainly do that you can have a break and gather some energy for dealing with everything. It would also give you another view on his behaviour.

And yes, I would call the HV. I'd do this SLT progress checker first and ask her to refer him for a hearing test and to assess him using ASQ.

The Explosive Child might help you whilst you wait to speak to the HV Flowers
