My 14 week old DS is not really interested in toys

Well, he is only 14 weeks old, so no he probably isn't that interested in toys yet. For us, toys came into their own at around 6 months when DD could sit up and play with them herself. Before that, there was a stage of putting everything in her mouth I think - though they have to have the coordination to find their mouth and hold a toy at the same time for that, so later rather than sooner.

Your DS is not bored. He is happy watching you hoover, wash up, etc. If he was bored he would cry. Please don't worry.

Agree with pelafina. Don't worry. Sounds perfectly normal.

At 14 weeks all they do is stare at the toy. Staring at a toy is actually quite stimulating for them. He sounds totally normal to me.

Have you tried baby massage? That used to fill some time when DD was small and she liked it. We even did a class which got us out of the house and meeting people.

He is really too young to play much

DS was totally disinterested in toys until he reached 5 or 6 months. Much more interested in people. At 14 weeks if I tried to play with toys with him he'd break down in hysterics because it was too stimulating - and we had to take his mobile down because he just about had a breakdown with it hanging over the cot.

Once he can sit up and his coordination is improving he'll be much more interested. In the meantime what you're doing already sounds great, I'm sure he loves it

Dont worry about him. He will play with things in his own good time. For the time being he is sitting back, relaxing and quietly watching the world around him. One day he'll freak you out by grabbing hold of your mobile phone or something... then you know to get him his own toy one!

My LO discovered his hands first. Spent ages looking at them and then moving them around. Soon after he was using his new found hands on the odd toy here and there.

Make sure any toy you try him on has small parts he can grab with his little hands. He still doesnt like anything big and clumpy as he cant fiddle with it (he's 18 weeks).

We are now at the stage where he has discovered his left foot. Cant stop grabbing it... he hasnt figured out he has a right one too!

Stop worrying about your little boy. He sounds lovely and sounds like you are doing all thr right things.
