Has anyone got any advice on how to settle a 3 week old baby? She appears contented and i put her in bouncer chair / moses basket / cot and 5 minutes later she is awake and crying, is only calm when i hold her. So i have her in my arms at night and all day and am exhausted! What can i do?! Is second baby so feel like i should know what to do, can't remember the early weeks with DS but i'm pretty sure he slept happily on his own.

mine are both past this satge now-but really feel for you-it is exhausting. Can you try soothing her ie.stroking her head and staying near to her without always picking her up and see if she settles again?

Do you have a sling as it sounds as though your DD just wants to be close to you at the moment? This way you can get on with things without having to hold DD all day. The other thing you could try is putting something which smells of you near her when in the chair/cot/moses basket. May work, may not.

Your DS probably wasn't like this if you don't remember it. No one warns you that babies can be like this. It will pass.

My DS was like this. I had a sling which was a life-saver. It enabled me to do other things, while he happily snuggled up to me.
